Folksy Daily Listing Challenge

Still taking part with the Folksy daily listing challenge and so far excluding weekends I've listed everyday. For any of you crafters who are thinking of taking part in this challenge I'd definitely recommend it. Having to list an item has forced me to sit down and create some of the ideas that I've had in my head for ages but have never quite found the time to create. Now I have lots of new products to offer my customers.
Unfortunately with two sick boys this week I haven't found the time to keep my blog updated daily so here are my listings on Folksy for the week.

Folksy Challenge

Didn't get time to add this to my blog yesterday but yesterdays listing over on the daily listing challenge was this cute house cushion. Originally inspired by the cute little cottage wall plaques I used to get every year when visiting Cornwall.

Todays listing was this yellow owl clock. The clock is also available in blue and pink. I've just put the blue one up
on my kitchen wall, now I'm torn between keeping the blue or changing it for the yellow. hmmm decisions :-)

New Products

You may notice that this weeks new products all have a bird theme, I think I'm a bit obsessed at the moment especiallywith owls. At the moment I'm also enjoying working with pattern whether its delicate papers of bold printed fabrics.

Added to my website this
week are an owl sleepsuit ( blue version coming soon for the boys) and a beautiful bird body suit. Both are hand sewn using the applique method.
When I finally managed to put the sewing machine away I managed to create a cute door sign to go with the popular owl clock, available for sale separately or as this cute gift set.
All items are available for sale on my With Hugs and Kisses website

This weeks I've got a little carried away with the girls, next week I promise to come up with some things for the boys.

Handmade Halloween

This year after much thought my little boy decided he wanted to be a pirate for Halloween, much improved on the cow he inshisted on being last year. And my baby he probably didn't want to but got no choice he just had to be a pumpkin. This year I was determined to make the costumes myself and get my little boy involved as much as possible.
A week before Halloween we headed to the local fabric shop and came back with a mountain of fabric, not all for Halloween i have to admit. the fabric shop has to be my favourite place in the world i could spend all day there. I made a simple black waist coat with a little pirate badge sewn to the front. the t-shirt was a cheapy that we then painted with black fabric paint.
The bandanna was made from an old pattern i head in the cupboard. the sword was cut from card, painted and covered in foil. an old pair of trousers a few scraps of fabric and there
we have it a pirate.

The pumpkin outfit was made from a simple trouser pattern, the hat two pieces of fabric sewn together and some felt leaves added. The vest was sewn and a cute face appliqued to the front and worn over a stripy orange t-shirt.

I think they both looked very cute.

Cooking's not my strong point, but we did manage some spider cakes, and some gloppy goop.

The pumpkin of cause is sat on the front door, its not the best pumpkin as i left it to the last minute and all the best ones had gone. this is my second attempt the first was much better but that got dropped on the floor and smashed every where so this was a bit of a rush job. Not too bad tho for my first year at pumpkin carving. I've seen some amazing pumpkins around this year, next year I promise to put much more effort in.

A few ghosts for the front room, and there we have it

Happy Halloween!

Hope you all had a lovely Halloween, any pumpkin recipes greatly appreciated

Holiday in Cornwall

Well we're now back from our holiday to Cornwall. This year with a 3 year old and a 4 month old there was no way I was going to be holidaying abroad so with fond childhood memories of Cornwall we packed our belongings (what seemed like the entire house) and headed of to St Austal. After what seemed like hundreds of stops at service stations we finally reached Cornwall and what a delight.
The luggage was thrown in the hotel room unfortunately not the pretty cottages that you associate with Cornwall but the Travel Lodge(it was cheap). We then headed for the local beach. It was getting a little dark by then but there was a group of wind surfers on the sea and it was lovely to watch. The next couple of days were sent exploring the beaches of Cornwall, building sand castles, paddling in the sea and eating ice cream. Oh the ice cream the best I've ever had :-). The time flew by it was so lovely. Just before we left we headed down to Mevagissey, oh my god the most beautiful place, the harbour is full of cute little boats and the town is just lovely full of cute old fashioned shops selling beautiful handmade items, heaven :-). I even came back with a new pair of green shoes.
Anyone who ever gets the chance to go must.
All in all a beautiful holiday just way to short, I'll definitely be going back next year.

Here's some of my seaside inspired items, including my Mevagissy inspired clock (all available for sale at www.withhugsandkisses.co.uk)

New Little Friends

Just wanted to introduce our new little friends. Met Megan the cat and Toby the dog.

The inspiration for both of these little friends came from by visit to our local fabric shop. I came back with bags full of beautiful fabrics in a variety of colours and textures, perhaps a few too many, but I'm sure they will all be put too good use. There was too pieces of beautiful brushed cotton in there which just screamed dog to me and well if your making a dog why not a cat. And so Toby and Megan where born.

Toby and Megan will make a great friend for any child or adult. Will you take them home?

Toby and Megan are both available on our website www.withhugsandkisses.co.uk
